The X2 Omni is the latest model in Ecovacs' line of hybrid robot vacuums and mops. This model that is dry and wet is equipped with the latest AIVI 3D2.0 lidar system Ecovacs, which offers improved mapping and obstruction avoidance. It uses dual-laser LiDAR which is similar to what you'll find in self-driving vehicles -- and can scan an area of up to 32 feet wide by 270 degrees. This translates to more accurate mapping, faster response time, and higher cleaning accuracy.

It also comes with an alternating mopping mat made of chenille, which makes it easier to scrub hard areas than traditional mop. In my testing, the X2 Omni took just over a minute to clean its pad and get to work. I also noticed that it was more precise than other models that seemed to follow a grid route around rooms. It was able to navigate around corners and edges of my rooms, and also make "Zambani patterns" up and down the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station frequently to empty the dustbin and clean the mop with hot water prior to beginning another cleaning task.

The X2 Omni is just as easy to use and set up as the other Ecovacs products. It takes only a few minutes to secure the dock into place, plug it in and connect to your Wi-Fi network at home. You can then launch the app to start your first cleaning project. I was able to modify my floor plan in about 15 minutes. This included creating limited areas for mopping and sweeping as well as rearranging the positioning of furniture that is mounted on walls and more. The X2 Omni was astonished during my tests, with outstanding scores in cleaning pet hair and debris cleaning and near-perfect results in edge and crevice cleaning.

2. Deebot T10 Omni

It's a mid-range robot cleaner that's attractive even if the claim of being a one-stop shop for floor cleaning doesn't quite be realized.

The X8 Hybrid appears to be an ordinary robotic cleaner from the top. It is a circular design with sweeping wheels, and a raised sensor area. Turn it upside down, however, and you'll find an electric floor brush and one side sweeper brush which pushes dirt from the edges of the machine into the main path of the robot's 'mouth'. It's a bit smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9 which I found made it easier to reach under chairs and couches.

Its mapping system is fairly sophisticated, allowing you to set no-mop zones, as well as specific cleaning zones. It is prone to hitting objects like its charging station, and isn't great in climbing over carpets. It was good at getting pet hair off of the floor. In our tests it was able to pick up 89.5 percent of cat litter.

The A4s Pro also offers a handy auto cleaning mode that automatically increases suction power to deal with tough spills and dirt and it is equipped with batteries that power the ElectroWall that allows you to place boundaries where the robot isn't permitted to access.

This budget-friendly robot from a popular brand is the cheapest we've ever tested and offers exceptional value for money. Its navigation system is based on a very basic random pathing algorithm and it lacks the ability to map rooms. This renders it less efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and into corners. And its mopping mode performed very well in our tests, picking up stray hair and other debris.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ isn't quite as robust as the Roomba S9, but it is superior in general at getting rid of pet hair from all surfaces. It gets rid of floors with less thoroughly and does a good job on low-pile carpet, and it makes use of smart-pathing navigational technology for superior maneuverability. It also allows you to send it to a specific area, and its advanced suite of automation features include no-go zones as well as scheduling. It also allows you to pause and resume cleaning making it ideal for homes with pets.

Its self cleaning brushroll prevents tangles and can carry up to 30 days of dirt. It has a set of angled side brushes that can reach into corners, as well as a multi-stage filter system that collects dust, dander and allergens.
