When the iRobot Combo j7+ realizes that it's on a surface that needs to be cleaned using water, a tiny robot arm is raised and swings a tiny mopping pad underneath it. This is an incredibly user-friendly system, and it performed flawlessly during my tests. It was not able to get rid of water-based liquids such like juice or wine. The mopping pad is washable and reusable.

The iRobot Combo's front camera is also quite useful. It can detect dangers like power cables and pet waste and avoid them to ensure a thorough clean. This is superior to the majority of robot vacuums' cameras that can get stuck on things like rug tassels. It also features precise lidar navigation that works like radar in 3D which means it can see things such as baseboards, chair legs and furniture legs, and effortlessly navigate around them. It can create customized cleaning routines you can initiate by tapping, such as an "After Meal mode" which systematically cleans and vacuums the kitchen floors.

This two-in-one also has a special feature not found on most other robots: VibraRise, which raises the mopping plate when it detects carpeting so it doesn't get the area rug wet and makes mopping more efficient. It also comes with an advanced cleaning feature that vacuums and mops carpets with one pass, removing dust and dirt faster than spinning mops. You can also use the app to set an agenda for your weekly cleaning or to clean on the go.

The S7 Max Ultra is a fantastic device for its intended purposes however, it has some disadvantages. The most important is the price. It's also the most expensive robotic mop and vacuum combination I've ever reviewed. The other issues are not specific to this particular model but more indicative of robotic vacuums as a whole that it is unable to handle large spills and, sticky messes well.

The S7 Max Ultra can be easily set up: simply plug it in, connect it to your phone using Wi Fi and start a cleaning session. Once you've completed that, you can customize its settings in the app, such as setting no-go zones, and scheduling cleanings.

Another big bonus is its outstanding obstacle avoidance system. During testing, it only encountered two snags in tight spaces, which is a lot better than the S6 MaxV's three attempts and the X1 Omni's four tries. The app lets you mark an object as a temporary obstruction and the S7 Max Ultra ignores it when it comes to cleaning.

Narwal Freo

The Narwal Freo is one of the few robots that integrates vacuuming and mops in its design. It's one of the most affordable combo bots we've tested. The Freo is an excellent choice for anyone who needs a combination cleaner. Its remarkable cleaning capabilities, as well its wide array of options for customization make it an excellent choice. The lack of advanced obstacle-avoidance technology as well as a sleek mobile application dampened our enthusiasm for this model.
